Learning Manager/Lab Assistant - Dental Assisting

Grant funded position: November 3, 2025 to March 31, 2027

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

橘子视频 is seeking a Learning Manager/Lab Assistant to develop curriculum and provide strong leadership, guidance, and support to the students in the clinic and lab environment within the Dental Assisting program. This initiative aims to expand access to oral health care by developing training and educational resources that reduce non-financial barriers for targeted populations and equip future professionals to improve oral health outcomes in the community. The successful candidate will:

  • Collaborate with faculty, Curriculum Services, Applied Research and external partners to develop program outcomes, course outlines, lesson plans, and instructional materials.
  • Conduct research and data analysis to support curriculum enhancements and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Coordinate and lead project activities, ensuring deliverables align with program objectives and timelines.
  • Design, develop, conduct and oversee surveys and focus groups to collect data for curriculum development, program improvements and decision-making.
  • Consult with internal and external stakeholders, presenting project updates as needed.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships to create student learning opportunities both on and off campus.
  • Lead educational and community outreach initiatives, using the Dental Clinic as a central resource.
  • Collaborate with targeted populations to ensure programming is culturally responsive and inclusive.
  • Track and assess student learning outcomes, including growth in cultural competency skills.
  • Contribute to curriculum and learning material development, and assist with Canadian Dental Association program accreditation processes as required.
  • Support the Learning Manager and provide guidance to students during lab and clinical activities.
  • Ensure the safety, cleanliness, and organization of lab and clinic environments by enforcing safe work practices, maintaining infection control protocols, and confirming equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Maintain organized student records, assist with attendance tracking, and support required documentation processes.
  • Liaise with dental professionals and industry partners to coordinate student learning experiences such as guest lectures, demonstrations, clinic visits, and practicums.
  • Support overall program delivery, operations, and student success.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in Dental Hygiene or Dental Assisting, with a minimum of three years recent work experience in the field. Degree preferred.
  • Experience working with Indigenous, newcomer and underrepresented populations is strongly preferred.
  • Strong ability to interact, collaborate, and build meaningful relationships with students, faculty, industry and community partners.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and research skills.
  • Exceptional written, oral, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze data from multiple sources, compile reports and follow procedures.
  • A high level of proficiency in applicable technologies and software.
  • Prior curriculum development, teaching experience and/or Certificate in Adult Education would be considered assets.

Employment requirements

  • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Dental Assistant or Dental Hygienist in PEI.
  • Proof of credentials or equivalencies from accredited regional or federal post-secondary institutions and/or their foreign equivalents will be required at the time of job offer.

Salary:

Learning Manager - $37.25 to $55.08/hr; Lab Assistant: $32.36 to $39.13/hr

This term opportunity will be structured as 60% Learning Manager and 40% Lab Assistant.
